Our Passion for dogs
Welcome to the Renescent website and a brief introduction to how our passion for dogs began.
I am David and live with my partner Ginette on a secluded farm in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Our only main neighbours being my parents living in the farmhouse next door which we jokingly call the retirement home (for both Danes and parents)
Renescent has been a member of The Kennel Club Accredited Breeder Scheme (previously Assured Breeder Scheme) since 2008 and in April 2014 were approved as UKAS Accredited Breeders having been fully inspected gaining top marks in all areas.
My experience of dogs started at just 4 years old when my family had our first dog Brandy who was a liver and white Springer Spaniel. When we got a little older my sister and I pestered my parents repeatedly for another dog of our own and after much research we decided on a Rhodesian Ridgeback bitch called Tara. Tara was by no means the last of our Ridgebacks as 30 years on and several generations later Sasha joined our family.
My love for Great Danes started in my teens after meeting a fawn boy owned by a friend of my father and although I had to wait until I had my own house I knew then that I would be a Dane owner one day. What I did not know however was just how my passion would grow and how lucky I would be to be able to share the life I do now with our Dane family. In our home we currently have 4 generations of our own breeding including our Great Grandma Cosette who is 12 this year. We continually strive to improve type without losing the excellent health and temperament that our Danes have. To help achieve this we have imported puppies and used stud dogs from lines that we believe to be some of the best from across Europe.
In 2013 we brought in Matilda who was the first of our 2 Bulldogs. We wanted to do this for some time but finally the time was right and early in 2014 Mag joined the family too. Who knows where this little adventure will take us?
In 2007 we moved to the farm to enable us provide the facilities and space that we feel our Danes deserve and since that time we have not stopped adding and improving. At this time we have 8 double kennels and 2 triple kennels which are insulated, have full thermostatically controlled blown air heating systems and have 6m x 3m runs. The kennels also have their own fitted kitchen, a wash room with hydrobath & blaster dryer and a fully equipped grooming parlour. We have a room plumbed and ready where we hope to add hydrotherapy treatment solutions in the future when time allows.
In November 2014 Ginette completed her city and guilds level 3 grooming qualifications with mainly distinction and merit grading’s throughout and will be proudly opening the Renescent Grooming Parlour early in 2015.
